School Girl

Stella had her first day of preschool last week. For a couple of weeks leading up to school she asked me about it everyday.
"Mom, did you used to go to school?"
"Were there any mean kids in your class?"
"What if I get lost?"

The morning of school she was so nervous, she woke up that morning and told me she wasn't going. "Giving up" is becoming a common response for her, but were working on it.  I sat her down and pointed out some of the hard things she had done in the past, and how everything had turned out great.  I pointed out how in the past year I have left her at tumbling, and dance, and art class. And each time she was nervous.  And each time she loved it and couldn't wait to go back.  As we were taking I could see her relax and start to nod. She reminded me how nervous she was at primary too, but now it's fun. 5 minutes later she was bouncing off the walls, ecstatic for her first day of school. Whew! I love it when those parenting talks go exactly as planned. Seems like it doesn't happen very often.

She got ready for school in record time and then... We had three hours until school started. Stella didn't mind though. We did some packing (moving day coming up!) and we did a puzzle together and had some lunch.  Never once did she take off her backpack. It was adorable.

A few days into school I took some more pictures to send to Rhett. As soon as she found out they were for Rhett she busted out these moves:

 

I think these photos characterize their relationship pretty well. They love to be goofy together.  I can't believe how grown up she is getting!
