The Fourth

I realy love the fourth of July. To me it is the very essence of summer. Family, Friends, BBQ, warm summer air. I love the fireworks, and I can't help but get teary eyed whenever I hear the National Anthem.  For the Fourth of July this year we were lucky enough to spend the day with some of our favorite people.

Megan and Darin came up the night before, and the plan was to get up early and go to the parade. The next morning, after very little deliberation, we decided to skip the parade and we all went back to bed. Wesli and Stella had stayed up late the night before talking and giggling, (just like little girl cousins should) so we decided to let them sleep.

There is a man crawling out of my head! Weird.

We spent the day at The Museum of Natural Curiosity and then went to Sugarhouse Park for the fireworks. Rhett's parents, Rhett's sister Nikkol and her kids, and Rhett's brother Zack and his boys all came down too.  There were lots of kids there and I loved seeing them all play together.

Rhett was Mr. Popular as soon as he got the face paint out.

We are so lucky that we have family that will drive an hour to sit on a blanket on a steep hill in 90 degree weather to hang out with us.  Stella not having siblings has been my greatest struggle with infertility.  It always makes me the saddest to think about what she is missing out on.  But those days when she is surrounded by family and cousins and she is playing her little heart out... on those days it feels a little bit better.  We love them.

This is almost everybody, minus Nikkol and her boys who were getting a snow cone.
